En-Suite Bathroom Installation in Brighton

An en-suite turns a bedroom into a private suite — no queueing for the family bathroom, no trips down the landing. Bishops designs and builds complete en-suite bathrooms across Brighton and Hove, creating a new bathroom inside or beside an existing bedroom.

Because our carpenters, plumbers, electricians and tilers all work in-house, one team builds the room itself and then fits the bathroom inside it. One schedule, one quote, one company responsible for the lot.

Creating an En-Suite From Scratch

There are two common ways to create an en-suite. The first is to section off part of a generous bedroom with a new stud wall, turning unused floor space into a compact shower room. The second is to convert a space next door — a box room, a deep cupboard, or an awkward corner of landing that has never earned its keep.

Either way, the building work matters as much as the bathroom itself. We construct the stud walls, hang the door, and route new hot, cold and waste pipework to the space. Waste pipes need a proper fall to the soil stack, which is one of the first things we check on a home visit. Ventilation is essential too: a bathroom without a window must have an extractor fan, and we fit one as standard.

Once the room exists, the full bathroom fit-out follows: first-fix plumbing and electrics, walls and tiling, then the shower, basin, WC and finishing touches. You watch a corner of a bedroom become a finished en-suite — without a parade of separate trades through your house.

Making Small Spaces Work

Most en-suites are compact, so the layout does the heavy lifting. A few smart choices make a small space feel far bigger than its measurements. Sliding or pocket doors save the swing space a hinged door steals. Corner basins and compact WCs are designed for tight rooms. Wall-hung units lift storage off the floor, which makes the room easier to clean and visually larger.

And in almost every en-suite, a walk-in shower makes better use of the space than a bath ever could. We plan the layout around the room you have, not a catalogue picture. For more space-saving ideas, read our guide to small bathroom design ideas.

Does an En-Suite Add Value to Your Home?

An extra bathroom is consistently one of the features buyers ask estate agents about, and a well-built en-suite can make a home easier to sell as well as more comfortable to live in. For growing families and shared households, the difference is felt every single morning.

The value is not only financial. An en-suite adds privacy for guests, independence for teenagers, and convenience for everyone. We cover this question in detail in our article on whether an extra bathroom increases property value.

What an En-Suite Costs in Brighton

En-suite costs vary more than any other bathroom project, because building work is involved. Where the space already exists — a box room ready for conversion — projects typically start from around £6,000. Where new walls, doorways and longer pipework runs are needed, the figure rises with the scope of the build.

As with all our work, you receive a fixed written quote before anything starts. Our bathroom renovation cost guide explains what affects the price.

En-Suite Bathroom Installation in Brighton FAQ’s

How long does an en-suite installation take?

Most en-suite projects take two to three weeks, including the building work. Creating the room — stud walls, door, pipework runs and ventilation — takes roughly the first half, and the bathroom fit-out follows.

Do I need planning permission for an en-suite?

For internal changes to a house, planning permission is usually not required. Building regulations still apply to drainage, ventilation and electrics, and we build to current regulations as standard. For flats, listed buildings or anything unusual, check with the council first — we can point you in the right direction.

Can an en-suite go in a room without a window?

Yes. A bathroom without a window is perfectly acceptable as long as it has suitable mechanical ventilation. We fit a quality extractor fan as standard in every windowless en-suite.

Can you move plumbing to reach the new en-suite?

Yes. Rerouting hot, cold and waste pipework to reach the new en-suite is a normal part of the job. Waste pipes need a proper fall to the soil stack, which is one of the first things we assess on the home visit.

Will the rest of my bedroom be protected during the work?

Yes. We sheet off the working area, protect flooring and furniture, and tidy up at the end of every working day. Building an en-suite should not mean living in a building site.
